REGARDING ADA-DEFINED SERVICE ANIMALS

If you bring an animal onto Bloomsdale Fun Farm property, you are expected to have read, understood, and agreed to follow the policy below.

Bloomsdale Fun Farm welcomes service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Pets, emotional support animals, and other animals that do not meet the ADA definition of a service animal are not permitted.

ADA DEFINITION OF A SERVICE ANIMAL

Under the ADA, a service animal is:

1. A dog that has been individually trained to perform work or tasks for a person with a disability. In certain circumstances, a trained miniature horse may also qualify.

2. Individually trained to perform specific work or tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.

3. Trained to perform a task directly related to the handler’s disability. Examples may include opening doors for a wheelchair user, alerting a person to a seizure, or interrupting a PTSD-related episode.

BLOOMSDALE FUN FARM SERVICE ANIMAL PROCEDURE

1. Guests entering with a service animal should check in with the manager on duty at the entrance. When permitted by law, our staff may ask the two questions allowed under the ADA regarding the animal’s service status and the work or task it has been trained to perform.

2. Once the animal has been identified as a service animal under our admission procedure, the guest will receive an additional wristband so our staff knows the animal has been checked in at the entrance.

3. Guests bringing an animal into the farm without completing the service animal check-in procedure may be asked to return to the entrance to speak with a manager.

Service animals must remain under the handler’s control while on the property and may be required to leave if the animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it, or if the animal is not housebroken.

MISREPRESENTATION OF A SERVICE ANIMAL

Knowingly misrepresenting an animal as a service animal may be subject to penalties under Missouri law. Bloomsdale Fun Farm reserves the right to contact local authorities when appropriate.
